Each year, Gulf Harbors Yacht Club awards monetary scholarships, under The Bonnie Hecock Scholarship Program, to three or four graduating seniors chosen from seven West Pasco High Schools.

Award recipients, their parent(s), and Career Counselors are invited to an awards dinner at the Yacht Club where they are honored and share plans for their future.
All funds are raised through the generosity of the Gulf Harbors Yacht Club membership and tribute gifts.
The Bonnie Hecock Scholarship Program
Bonnie Hecock was a 3rd grade teacher and reading specialist before moving to New Port Richey. She was an active member of the Gulf Harbors Yacht Club and served in numerous positions, however, her passion was always student education. She served as Scholarship Committee Chairperson for many years until her untimely death in 2017. In recognition of her service and commitment to the club and the Scholarship Committee the Scholarship Program was renamed in her honor.
