Members of the GHYC are active in community service, both in their private lives and as Club members. The Club’s service activities are focused in three areas: Student Scholarships, charity support by the Anchorettes auxiliary and the Youth Sailing Camp.
Each year, the Club awards monetary scholarships to a graduating seniors from the six West Pasco high schools. The awards are based on scholastic achievement, school involvement and community service.
At an awards dinner at the Club, each student is honored and shares their accomplishments and plans for their future. Gulf Harbors Yacht Club is very proud to invest in the future of each deserving student. To date, over $140,00 in scholarship funds have been awarded.
The Annual Golf Tournament is one way we raise money for the scholarship fund. We have fun, play golf and help students all at the same time!
The Anchorettes are an auxiliary to the Gulf Harbors Yacht Club. These members embrace a time honored tradition of service to our club and our community. Each year they take on any number of projects to better our membership & community experience.
Each summer, our Youth Sailing Camp teaches 9- to 14 year olds how to safely sail a Sunfish and have fun doing it. Cost is $200 for the week-long camp, which will be offered June 10-14 and June 17-21. Hours are 9:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday thru Thursday and 11:00 am until 5:30 pm on Friday. Scholarship opportunities are available.
